À la différence d’un système d’arrosage goutte à goutte qui favorise l’évaporation, les oyas permettent d’économiser jusqu’à 70% d’eau car l’apport est interne : les racines de plantes se fixent autour du pot et viennent prélever par capillarité la quantité d’eau dont elles ont besoin. Les arroseurs Phin présentent le double avantage d’économiser l’eau tout en palliant l’ajout d’engrais de synthèse puisque les éléments chimiques des cendres vont fertiliser les sols et réguler leur acidité. L’urne contiendrait les cendres du défunt ainsi qu’une graine d’arbre et de la terre. Une fois l’urne inhumée, nous pourrions assister à la naissance de l’arbre qui deviendrait le lieu de recueillement. Les cendres de bois ainsi que celles du défunt assureront la croissance de l’arbre et la bonne santé du sol. L’idée est qu’après la mort – celle de l’être aimé et de l’arbre coupé pour être consumé – vient la renaissance. En fin de vie, les éléments emprunteront deux voies de valorisation : la galette retournera au sol ou sera recyclée et le piètement pourra être consumé et devenir à son tour cendres avant de renaître de celles-ci. La confection a été réalisée en collaboration avec Anaïs Jarnoux, artisane en tapisserie d’ameublement. La majorité des pièces ont été cousues à la main en utilisant le point sellier, caractéristique de la maroquinerie. Cette recherche, amorcée il y a maintenant trois ans, s’intéresse à l’utilisation de la cendre comme charge minérale dans une matrice biosourcée et biodégradable. À ce stade du projet, nous avons obtenu des matériaux – polymères – souples et rigides, dont nous avons expérimenté la mise en forme à travers des objets répondant à différents usages et dont certains ont pour fonction première de retourner au sol, justifiant pleinement l’utilisation des cendres de bois. Les matériaux développés offrent une gamme colorée désaturée oscillant naturellement entre le gris, le brun et le noir. Les matières souples présentent deux états de surface : lisse et uniforme d’un côté et texturé, moucheté ou marbré de l’autre&nbsp;; leur conférant un aspect similaire au cuir animal. par conséquent, s’adonner à des activités de jardinage est souvent compromis. Pour pallier ce manque, nous avons imaginé le KPBag : un mini jardin autonome répondant aux besoins nutritifs des végétaux et servant à la culture d’herbes aromatiques et de plantes. En fin de vie, le KPBag pourra être planté pour végétaliser les pieds d’arbres en, intégré à un compost domestique, ou être jeté avec les déchets organiques, valorisés par méthanisation ou compostage industriel.
